Fecal Occult Blood
Occult blood refers to small amounts of bleeding in the digestive tract where no visible blood is present in the stool, and red blood cells are digested and destroyed, making them undetectable under a microscope. Chemical or immunological methods are required to confirm the bleeding.

Clinical Significance:

Detection of gastrointestinal bleeding: Drug-induced gastric mucosal injury, intestinal tuberculosis, gastric ulcers, ulcerative colitis, colonic polyps, hookworm disease, and gastrointestinal malignancies.

Differentiation between peptic ulcers and tumor bleeding: Fecal occult blood (FOB) is intermittently positive in peptic ulcers but persistently positive in gastrointestinal malignancies.

Screening for gastrointestinal tumors: FOB is safe, simple, and non-invasive, suitable for large-scale colorectal cancer screening.

Operation Procedure

Sampling: After defecation, use the sampling spoon to collect samples from the surface and deep areas of the stool.

Mixing: Place the sampling spoon back into the sampling cup and gently shake to mix the stool with the diluent.

Application: Add the stool mixture to the sample well of the test card.

Results: Let it sit for 5-10 minutes and observe the results.
