Promoting the healthy development of the medical testing and diagnostic industry
Innovation-driven, "dual high-end" development of product lines (Time of the 20th National Congress of the CPC)

Changsha Evening News reporter Zhu Zehuan
On the afternoon of the 18th, the reporter visited Aiwei Technology Park located in Yuelu High-tech Zone. A strong learning atmosphere filled the air. Slogans such as "Celebrating the successful opening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China" and "Implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China" were scrolling on the electronic screen in the lobby. "Learning and understanding the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in a timely manner allows enterprises to find the right direction for development." said Lin Changqing, the company's vice general manager.
"For 22 years since its establishment, we have focused on one thing: automating medical microscopy testing, making medical microscopy more convenient and intelligent." Lin Changqing told reporters that Aiwei Technology's main business now includes the research, development, production, sales, and after-sales service of medical testing and analysis instruments, in vitro diagnostic reagents, and medical consumables, covering more than 40 countries and regions globally.
In the past, medical testing of urine, feces, blood, and other specimens had a low degree of automation and relied on manual operation, requiring multiple steps such as manual sampling, reagent addition, microscopic observation, manual recording, and conclusion. Aiwei Technology pioneered the application of artificial intelligence and machine vision technology to the morphological testing of clinical pathology specimens, filling the gap in the international field of automated morphological testing of medical microscopes and changing the history of clinical medical microscopy testing which mainly relied on manual microscopic examination.
"Now, you only need to place the sample in the designated position, and the machine will complete the rest of the work until an objective and detailed test report is obtained." Lin Changqing said that the intelligent development of microscopy has effectively improved the accuracy and speed of clinical testing of relevant specimens, reduced the labor intensity of testers, eliminated cross-contamination, and provided patients with a more accurate, intelligent, and efficient testing method.
The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposes building a modern industrial system, insisting on placing the focus of economic development on the real economy, and promoting new industrialization. In Lin Changqing's view, an important sign of a modern industrial system lies in the production process and products keeping pace with the times, using information technology, big data, artificial intelligence, and other means to move towards high-end intelligent manufacturing.
Walking into the consumable production workshop of Aiwei Technology, the automated production lines are neat and orderly. A robotic arm repeatedly "picks up" four 3-centimeter-long and 1-centimeter-wide transparent slides and precisely places them into the slots of a black tray. In just a few repetitions, a box of counting plates can proceed to the next production stage.
"Except for the final packaging stage, which requires some manual labor, other production processes can be automated." A workshop official told reporters that as a pilot enterprise for intelligent manufacturing in Changsha, Aiwei Technology's consumable workshop only needs dozens of people to complete an annual production task exceeding 100 million yuan.
The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China points out that it is necessary to adhere to the principle that science and technology are the primary productive force, talent is the primary resource, and innovation is the primary driving force. It is understood that innovation-driven development is the key to Aiwei Technology's rapid growth. At present, the company has applied for more than 300 patents and has been authorized more than 200 valid patents.
In 2016, Aiwei's production line moved into Yuelu High-tech Zone. On June 16, 2021, Aiwei Technology was listed on the STAR Market. "Such rapid development is inseparable from the strong support of the Xiangjiang New Area and Yuelu High-tech Zone Management Committee." Lin Changqing told reporters that from the initial provision of resources and talent recruitment to safety production, financial subsidies, and listing guidance, the Xiangjiang New Area and Yuelu High-tech Zone Management Committee have always provided warm service and the greatest assistance to the company's growth. The park and the company have truly achieved what General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized when participating in the discussions of the Guangxi delegation to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China: "We should work together in unity of purpose".
